In a bid to deepen its understanding of the development and legal service needs of Chinese enterprises operating in the Netherlands and Europe, and to better support the “Going Global” strategy and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, a delegation from the China council For The Promotion of International Trade, led by Mr. Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CCPIT, hosted a symposium with Chinese businesses in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

Executives from various Chinese enterprises in the Netherlands, spanning sectors such as finance, international logistics, renewable energy, mobile communications, machinery manufacturing, aviation transport, and legal services, participated in the roundtable discussion.

During the symposium, Mr. Wang introduced CCPIT’s diversified, specialized, and international dispute resolution services, which are tailored to the needs of parties, and highlighted the organization’s extensive global service network and international cooperation platform aimed at supporting Chinese companies in their overseas ventures. He emphasized that the purpose of the CCPIT delegation’s visit to Europe was to directly listen to the needs and suggestions of enterprises involved in international operations and to provide a robust legal foundation for their safe and sustainable development abroad.

Company representatives shared insights on their business operations in the Netherlands and Europe, including the challenges encountered in overseas markets and their needs for cross-border dispute resolution. The discussion also covered key issues such as the choice of arbitration institution, applicable law in arbitration, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in foreign jurisdictions.

Delegation members responded to each question raised by the attendees and elaborated on CCPIT’s integrated legal services, which combine international best practices in arbitration with nearly 70 years of case management experience. They provided updates on case administration models, arbitration rules, composition of arbitrator panels, applicable laws, and arbitration languages.

The attendees expressed appreciation for the symposium, stating that the growing influence of Chinese arbitration institutions strengthens the negotiation power of Chinese enterprises overseas. The timely and practical information shared during the session was highly encouraging and reassuring, helping enterprises better understand how an effective dispute resolution mechanism can be a powerful tool for mitigating legal risks in an efficient, cost-effective, and accessible manner.

While in the Netherlands, the CCPIT delegation also visited and held discussions with the European headquarters of Hikvision, a global leader in security products and solutions; the Dutch subsidiary of SANY group, a top 50 global player in the construction machinery industry; the Amsterdam branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the world’s largest commercial bank; the Belt and Road International Commercial Mediation Center in The Hague; and senior representatives of the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE). These visits provided an opportunity for in-depth exchanges on business development and legal service needs of Chinese enterprises operating in Europe.

CCPIT introduced its diversified dispute resolution “toolbox” and provided tailored, professional, and timely advice to support these enterprises. Participating organizations expressed that the experience significantly enhanced their understanding of the advantages of arbitration in resolving international commercial disputes and strengthened their confidence in managing and mitigating legal risks in overseas markets.

Mr. Fu Danzhou, Vice President of the Hunan Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Ms. Lu Fei, Director of CIETAC’s Business Development Department, and Ms. Lu Yahan, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Department, accompanied the delegation and participated in the symposium and site visits.
